Music by The Piano Brothers

Mitchell “Mitch” D. Betcke, age 52, of LaGrange, IN died Friday August 11, 2017 unexpectedly at his home.  He was born July 16, 1965 to Carolyn A. (Baird) Betcke and Terry L. Betcke in LaGrange, IN.  Mitch’s passion was music.  His interest was sparked when at age 5 he received a Ukulele as a gift.  He impatiently waited  for his hands and fingers to grow enough to span the neck of a guitar.  By age ten his wish came true and he started taking guitar lessons.  He became an accomplished guitarist on lead and bass guitar.  Mitch played in several local bands and he also wrote some lyrics.  He worked in several factories in and around Sturgis, Middlebury, Topeka and LaGrange.  He is survived by his parents, 1 sister – Renee Betcke.  2 half-sisters – Nicole Betcke-Shaffer and Kelli Betcke.  Step-mother – Roberta Betcke.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents – Ralph and Hilda Baird, Margaret and James Fennell and Harry Betcke.  3 aunts and 2 uncles.  According to his wishes cremation will take place.   The family will receive friends on Saturday August 26, 2017 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange, IN.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Ron Marshall of the Sturgis Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating.  On-line condolences may be sent at  Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange, IN is handling the arrangements.

Mitch's life is evidence of the thin vail that separates life and death. Much like myself and few others, Mitch cheated departure from his mortal coil more than once. I am truly blessed to have shared much of "Mitchy's" life. He called me "His Brother" and I consider that an honor. I know that I know that I will see him again.

Love and Respect,
Your Brother,
David Betcke

I will miss my Brother very much and will have all the memories of being brothers for the last 38 years. We had our ups and down but who doesn't but we had a lot more up's and a lot of great times. We jammed for the first time Scott Melchi, Me, and Mitchie in 1979. We were in several Bands together over the years and we rocked the house so many times I can't count. Willie, Shawn, Me and many others were fortunate to know our brother and I Love you My Brother and will miss you so very much. See you on the other side and we will jam again Brother
