Joseph Elvin Yanke, age 63, died Monday May 28, 2018 at his home in Sturgis, MI.   He was born August 2, 1954 to Arthur and Marie (Mobley) Yanke of Ontario, IN.  They precede him in death.  Joe had lived in   Ontario, IN most of his life, except for the last 2 years of his life where he resided at R&R adult foster care in Sturgis, MI where he received excellent care and enjoyed living there.   In previous years Joe enjoyed coon hunting, training coon dogs, deer hunting, fishing, cutting trees, plowing snow and going to Red Owl to play pool with friends.  Joe was always doing something to help others.  In recent years Joe enjoyed staying home at his adult foster care with his friends, watching tv and coming home on weekends to spend the days with his nephew and niece Jason and Carey Ettinger and their children who adored him.  He enjoyed relaxing in his chair, watching Red Box movies and Chatting.  He will be greatly missed by his little partner in crime Dean.  Joe was a great man who was always willing to help anyone with nothing in return.  He will be greatly missed by many.  His family would like to express great appreciation to Sunny and Kelly of R&R Adult Foster Care of Sturgis, MI for making Joe part of their family and taking excellent care of him!  You are truly a blessing.  He enjoyed living there and enjoyed his friendships that were made.  He is survived by 2 sons - David Yanke of LaGrange, IN and Joe & Lindsay Yanke of Orland, IN. 1 Daughter - Samantha & Tracy White of LaGrange, IN.  2 sisters - Deborah & Bryan Kline of LaGrange, IN and Linda & George Sanders of Sugar Grove, PA.  1 brother - Kenneth Yanke of LaGrange, IN.  6 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 - infant brother - David, and 1 – daughter – Joei Marie in 1977.  Visitation will be Friday June 1, 2018 at Carney-Frost Funeral Home from 5-7 P.M.  A graveside service will be held Saturday June 2, 2018 also at the Ontario Cemetery in Howe IN with Pastor Dale Hicks officiating.  Online condolences may be sent at www.carneyfrostfuneralhome.com.  Carney-Frost Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
