James R Winkler "Wink"

James R. Winkler (Wink) age 82, passed away on Friday April 25, 2014 at his home in LaGrange, IN.  He was born May 23, 1931 in LaPorte, IN to Ralph and Frieda (Sass) Winkler.  He married Mary Ruth Gray on November 22, 1958. She preceded him in death in 1984.  Jim was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He served from 1950 to 1954 as an Airman First Class, and was stationed on the Barkside Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was a member of the Lima Presbyterian Church in Howe, IN and a 60 year member of the American Legion Post #215, LaGrange, IN.  Before his retirement he was employed at the LaGrange County Hospital as a Business Administrator for 10 years, then at the State Bank of Lima in Howe, IN for 24 years.  He is survived by 3 daughters - Sandra Meenen of Allentown, PA, Linda Winkler of LaGrange, IN and Roberta Tuso of Allen, TX.  1 Brother - Richard C. Winkler of Arizona.  5 Grandchildren - Scott Meenen, Beth Meenen, Amber Deeds, Taylor Tuso and Brianna Tuso.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held on Sunday May 4, 2014 from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange, IN.  The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. immediately following visitation with Jerry Stanner officiating.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Howe, IN with Military Rites performed by the American Legion Post #215, LaGrange, IN.   In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorials to be given to Parkview LaGrange Hospital Foundation (parkviewfoundation.org).  Online condolences may be sent at Carneyfrostfuneralhome.com.
