Joan Keplinger, age 96, of LaGrange, IN passed away on Thursday March 28, 2019 at her home.  She was born on August 13, 1922 in Topeka, IN to Irvin & Ella (Moseman) Fought.  She married Paul L. Keplinger on April 1, 1945 at the LaGrange Presbyterian Church.  He preceded in death in 1985.  Joan had worked as a candy maker at Plyley’s Candy in LaGrange and then at NIPSCO until her retirement in 1983.  She also babysat for years after her retirement.  She was a former member of the Methodist Church.  She was a 50 year member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority and was also on the Purity Supermarket Bowling for 50 years.  She was a huge Cubs fan as well as Purdue basketball.  She enjoyed flowers and trees.  She is survived by her son – Terry R. Keplinger of LaGrange, IN.  2 sisters – Jan Keenan and Jane & Dean Ulrey both of LaGrange, IN.  3 grandchildren – Paul & Dawn Keplinger of LaGrange, IN., Tarah & John Levitz of Angola, IN and Brian & Stephanie Keplinger of Coldwater, MI.  9 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way.  She was prececded in death by her parents, husband, 1 Infant son – Gary Lee Keplinger, 5 sisters – Phyllis Myers, Ilah Donaldson, Imogene Preston, Kate Preston and Helen Woodworth.  1 infant brother.  Visitation will be held on Monday April 1, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange, IN.  The funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 2, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Weaver officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange, IN.  Memorials for Joan may be given to Parkview Hospice.  On-line condolences may be sent at  Carney-Frost Funeral Home, LaGrange, IN is handling the arrangements.

I remember her as a very lovely lady. All of my mothers sisters are and were the best.
Even as a child I enjoyed being around her and answering her questions. I always looked forward to the Fought reunions. We will be praying for her and the family. Sorry we can not be there as we now live in South Carolina but we will keep her memory with us.
